Hear ye, hear ye…
Hi, my name is Grady. I have worked in the hair industry as a stylist and colorist for over thirty years in Washington, DC and beautiful Miami, FL. Today, I am issuing a challenge to ALL my fellow hair professionals!!!
I have a very important question for you. ARE YOU WORTH IT?? If your client just had her hair colored by you at a substantial cost and for whatever reason she is blowdrying her own hair, YOU have just failed! She is your best form of advertising and you have fallen short of your mark as a hairstylist. You are now in the category of a technician.
This Challenge goes out to all LICENSED hairstylists. We as professionals have a serious problem. One of the most important elements in our industry is slowly becoming a lost art and that is blowdrying hair. The importance of our trade has been divided into three categories: cutting hair, coloring hair and chemical work. While all are very important, if you allow your client, who you have provided any of these services for to not only leave your chair but your place of business, then you have failed your profession. You have allowed your client to walk away with hair that is unfinished!
Horst Rechhelbacher, the creative force behind Aveda and its concept, once said, "Don't do hair, do portraits!” Our industry is valuable to the world. It has provided me and my family with a very good life. For 30 years, I have been creating beauty. I have had my shot in this amazing and exciting business, and I am now looking to pass those styling brushes on to someone else!
I was taught very early in my career to look at my profession as if my life depended on it. Why? Because it does! To all my fellow industry professionals, I want to leave you with something that has assisted me throughout my career working behind a styling chair with my Solano hair dryer in one hand and Nano Technology square hairbrush in the other. You are ONLY as good as your last hair service! If you can keep that in the forefront of your mind, every client leaving your chair will be a portrait that you have created.
I am asking all my fellow industry leaders to pass this on and tell someone else about this one of a kind the 1st Annual GLOBAL BLOWDRYING CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITION. It is as simple as signing up your team and submitting an edited video of your team’s work. Be a part of history!
Our competition will be taking registrations and will start accepting submissions soon! Please review the requirements of the overall competition throughout the website. We look forward to your participation!
